- Select and plan appropriate teaching and learning activities that are in alignment with the school’s expectations for teaching and learning and its mission.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the school in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and engagement.
- Create and conduct lessons and assessments guided by the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm.
- Apply a wide range of formative and summative assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
- Establish and maintain a learning environment with fair and consistent standards that promote positive interpersonal relationships and behavior.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, humanities, or a related field; Master’s degree or higher in a related field preferred
- Current Ohio teaching license in high school English Language Arts or eligibility to obtain
- Experience teaching high school level English courses is a plus.
- Experience and a desire in participating in extracurricular programs and/or student faith formation is a plus.
- A strong commitment to the values of Catholic, Jesuit education.

About the Position:
Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an exceptional English Language Arts teacher beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. This full-time position will include planning for and teaching five instructional periods, one proctoring duty, and leadership of one student advisory. Experience teaching high school English is a plus, as well as a willingness to participate in our extracurricular and faith formation activities. The candidate should expect to engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. About Saint Ignatius High School:
Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors on September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 92 cities in an 11-county region. Located in close proximity to downtown Cleveland in the vibrant and energetic Ohio City neighborhood, the school occupies 23 acres and includes 19 buildings and three athletic fields. The school has 114 faculty members, 89 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. Fifty-six percent have spent 10 years or more teaching at Saint Ignatius.
Saint Ignatius is also home to The Welsh Academy, a middle school for boys from local families of modest economic means, founded in 2019. The Academy enrolls more than 60 boys in grades 6-8 and occupies Kesicki Hall on campus.
Academically, Saint Ignatius is a regional and state leader in National Merit finalists. To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 17 Advanced Placement (AP) and 21 honors subjects.
