The Mid Level Software Engineer will provide development expertise for software development projects across the life sciences business. The Software Engineer is a key member of the digital strategy team as this role enables the use of data in production to make production more efficient. The Mid Level Software Engineer will predominantly be involved in code writing, requirements solicitation, implementing codes as well as supporting the Junior Engineers in the team.

The main responsibility of the position is to carry out the user requirements elicitation, design user interfaces, databases and software architecture, carry out development activities, support with deployment of new software and updates. The role will also be responsible for improving and maintaining the development workflow and environments which will include either developing or managing the implementation of work flow automation.

This is an exciting and challenging role where you will work with a like-minded global technical team consisting of a Senior Developer, 2 x I.T Automation Specialist, Product Manager /Developer, Junior Developer and another Midlevel Developer. This role would really suit a Software Engineer who is technically curious, has a strong level of professionalism, a commitment to quality and enjoys working in a collaborative nature.

Here’s a short breakdown of the key focus areas in this role

• Process Development including the design and automation of the team’s processes and project management methodologies
• Product Development including the implementation of design or user requirements into a functioning software artifact using languages or tools that suit the end user needs.
• Product Design including database design, specification writing and specification reviews. Also use UML where necessary to define use cases, class architecture, functional flow or model data structure within a proposed system.
• Requirements Elicitation and Gathering including identifying user stories and epics. Also use techniques such as interviews, requirements workshops and observation to truly understands the existing systems and processes and how software can support a better outcome for the end users.
