SUMMARY
This position provides general labor and assistance to the Maintenance Department to help ensure that the center’s physical structure, grounds, and equipment are maintained in optimal condition.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years physical plant and equipment maintenance experience in an institutional environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
· Ability to read, write and speak English.
· Knowledge of basic principles of preventative maintenance, mechanical functions and repairs, and grounds upkeep.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.
· Proficient computer skills.

· Demonstrates competence in application of mechanical and technical concepts that allows for center plant repair equipment maintenance.

· Remains current on all mandatory in-servicing including Infection Control, Fire, and Disaster policies and OSHA, DPH, and Joint Commission regulations.
· Updates the MSDS manual and understands all aspects of safe chemical usage, including the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
· Comprehends the center’s Performance Improvement initiatives and applies new interventions as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
· Demonstrates the ability to document data in required logs to maintain the department’s compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
· Demonstrates the ability to perform all tasks assigned in a timely manor with minimal supervision.
· Responds to emergency maintenance needs in a prompt manor.
· Maintains and applies updated knowledge of equipment and plant functions.
· Completes mandatory in-services and competencies.
· Demonstrates knowledge of the rights and dignity of residents, staff, and community and applies this knowledge while on the job.
· Maintains the confidence of resident information and center information.
· Maintains open and productive communication systems with peers, families, vendors and other staff members.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSABILITIES
Complies with legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures, including but not limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct and HIPPA. Promotes adherence to legal requirements, standards, polices/procedures as specified within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act, and HIPPA. Provides open lines of communication regarding compliance issues through the grievance reporting policy. Participates in compliance and other required training programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will require the employee to sit, stand, bend, and reach, frequently during the day. Only moderate potential for exposure to blood and body fluids as well as air borne partials that could cause illness is found in this position. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is also noted and to carry items up to 100 yards
