Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Assess educational needs based upon survey research.
· Assess educational needs based upon quality improvement and risk management data.
· Innovations in clinical care delivery, organizational dynamics, technology requirements of regulatory and accrediting bodies, licensure requirements, strategic plan, and feedback from system management.
· Must work cooperatively and seamlessly with nursing, human resources, quality, marketing, and administration.
· Develops an annual education plan that, based on the assessment of needs, supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of the SFHS.
· At a minimum, the plan includes orientation of new employees, competency assessment, and education response to quality management information. Implements and evaluates the education plan.
· Evaluation includes the effect of education on the performance of the organization (quality and facility outcomes).
· Provides oversight to the coordination of patient, family, and community education.
· Coordinates education activities/partnerships with outside agencies including academic institutions, and other facilities (e.g. Health Teacher).
· Coordinates clinical rotations for nursing and EMS students and provides oversight for academic liaisons and affiliation agreements.
· Develops and monitors budget, productivity, and other financial reports for areas of responsibility.
· Determines appropriate allocation of resources to support education.
· Teaches classes, as needed, utilizing principles of adult learning and critical thinking.
· Assists others with class preparation.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Summary: The Education Director develops and implements system-wide education programs in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the Saint Francis Health System. The Director is responsible for oversight and direction of the daily activities and must demonstrate the ability to transform concepts into action. This person will work closely with Quality, Communications, Human Resources and implement strategies that are consistent with desired results. As the Education Leader, this person serves as a key promoter of the department as a service organization to the system which strives to satisfy the need of its customers.
Education: Master’s degree in nursing education, organizational dynamics, or business adult education. Ph.D. preferred.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Valid State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License preferred.
Work Experience: 5 – 10 years related and relative experience.
