Finance Associate – Lease Accounting

This role will help identify and develop enhancements to the lease accounting systems and processes alongside ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the accounting for leases across the group. You’ll support in the development and management of the control framework for lease accounting and work with the business and external stakeholders to review and document processes and test for effectiveness. You’ll also partner with the lease reporting function, gaining a working understanding of the periodic process, and identify and recommend opportunities to improve lease accounting and reporting processes and outputs.

What you need to do

• Support in the delivery of improvement initiatives, including but not limited to:-
  • Data quality improvements
  • Elimination, simplification of transactional processes
  • Reporting improvements
• Support in the development of automation solutions to enhance accuracy and timeliness of data.
• Ensure adherence to financial controls
• Support and engage with other areas of the business on lease accounting queries.
• Provide support and advice to the business on lease accounting process, and compliance with the lease accounting control framework and process
• Understand and execute accounting processes including period-end relating to lease Accounting for Sainsbury’s and Argos.
• Provide support with both internal and external audit queries.
• Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis for the business area as required to drive improvements.
• Support in the development and testing of the lease accounting control framework.
• Develop strong working relationship with relevant internal and external (third party) stakeholders up to mid management.
• Share relevant tools and lessons learnt with Finance & Non-Finance stakeholders
