This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the accounting for Leases across Sainsbury’s and Argos under the IFRS 16 accounting standard. Execute accounting processes (including period-end transactions and journals) in the core finance systems in line with the agreed deadlines and quality standards. The job holder will partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate reporting and query resolution and identify and recommend opportunities to improve Lease accounting and reporting processes and outputs.

What you need to do

• Execute accounting processes including period-end relating to Lease Accounting for Sainsbury’s and Argos.
• Ensure accounting records maintained in compliance with the organisation’s policy and accounting standards for specific entities, business functions and cost lines.
• Support in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and clearance of reconciling items completed in compliance with the organisation’s policy.
• Help to maintain and test the group RACM for lease processes.
• Creation of non-property lease records within lease database.
• Maintain trackers to ensure property changes are accounted for correctly.
• Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis for the business area as required to drive improvements.

• Support and engage with other areas of the business and external stakeholders on lease accounting queries.

• Develop strong working relationship with relevant internal and external (third party) stakeholders up to mid-management.
• Share relevant tools and lessons learnt with Finance & Non-Finance stakeholders.

What you need to know and show

• Training towards an accounting qualification desirable
• The ability to communicate clearly
• Experience of financial accounting processes an advantage
• Strong Excel skills
• Analytical skills
• Attention to detail and drive to ensure accuracy/efficiency in all tasks
• Ability to work fluidly with data and across systems e.g. reporting tools
