Finance Associate – Accounting (4 Month FTC)

– 4 Month Fixed Term Contract (21000XOS)

We are also responding to the changing needs of the Business, ultimately driven by delivering what our customers want, and how they would like to shop.

Within Finance we are constantly adapting to the changes in the business whilst also delivering several transformation projects focussed on improving the Finance function. This role is responsible for supporting the accounting team in successfully landing change programmes whilst maintaining our BAU activities. You will be working across the team supporting on Sainsbury’s, Argos and Nectar.

What you need to do

As part of the accounting team, you will have:

• Ownership of several period close activities including journal calculation and posting across Sainsbury’s, Argos & Nectar. Working with various Finance teams to ensure these are accurate and posted on time.
• Owning the preparation of several balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring these are reconciled in line with policy.
• Support Finance managers in the completion of Finance Transformation activities, ensuring the successful delivery of the project within the accounting team.
• Supporting on the completion of External Audit deliverables, ensuring these are completed on time and accurately.
• Ensure all processes are documented for all key routines and controls in line with Group Policy.
• Spot and suggest ongoing process improvements and changes
• Forming strong relationships across the Finance teams to ensure seamless reporting for internal and external use, stakeholders, and other reporting.

What you need to know and show

• Experience working within a Finance function
• Strong inter-personal skills and proactive attitude
• Strong excel skills
• Studying towards CIMA/ACA/ACCA/AAT desirable
• A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently
• Proactive, ‘Can Do’ attitude and a willingness to get involved in a variety of tasks
• High levels of pace, energy, and resilience
• Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy
