Saguaro Lake Ranch Hiring for Head Chef at Mesa, Arizona Full Time

We are a historic guest ranch built in 1930 with a long tradition in showing guests from all over the world a little of the Old West. Sitting on the banks of the Salt River and in the shadows of the Goldfield Mountains, the ranch is located just 40 minutes northeast of Phoenix in the Tonto National Forest. The ranch has been owned by the same family for nearly 75 years.

Our 20 cabins have a rustic charm, each with their own bathrooms and yet purposefully lacking televisions or phones. Our main lodge is stunning with a four-sided fireplace in the living room and a real Saguaro cactus skeleton in the center of our dining room where we serve delicious meals made from scratch. Guests take part in a number of activities including horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, swimming in the pool, relaxing on their porch, or playing any number of games on the lawn.

We are looking for a special person who can help build the culinary experience at the ranch. We want to offer meals made from scratch that use local Arizona ingredients where possible but that are not ostentatious. We serve breakfast and dinners to between 2 and 60 guests and provide meals to our other employees.

The ideal candidate is a professionally trained chef who is passionate and enthusiastic about their food and takes pride in their work. We have a great team here already at the ranch and we want someone who is friendly, works well with others, and who is consistently positive. They should have good organization skills and be able to run a kitchen, manage ordering, and help with kitchen crew scheduling. This is NOT a corporate environment and the right person will be excited to create delicious homemade meals, serve and get to know guests, and help out with cleaning duties. This is the perfect job for those who truly enjoy creating and preparing their food in a beautiful setting.

Our traditional guest ranch season runs between September and May but if we find the right person this could work into a year round position with significant paid time off during the summer.  Paid summer leave (Amount TBD) plus healthcare, 401k, discretionary bonus, and the potential for housing.
