Position Purpose

To participate the completion of various financial reporting and analysis, general accounting, and state and Federal tax compliance functions. To use knowledge and experience to analyze and interpret financial results. To use interpersonal communication skills to effectively relay information to others within the company.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations by assigned deliverable dates and ensure outstanding issues are resolved timely.
• Prepares and review journal entries related to financial reporting. Must have the ability to identify errors and prepare corrections.
• Prepares and files various monthly, quarterly and annual state and Federal withholding tax filings and payments.
• Review and analyze monthly departmental operating expense reports and partner with department managers to confirm accuracy.
• Participate in annual budget planning process and updating financial system.
• Integral in planning for external audits. Ensures workpapers are provided and questions answered in effective and timely manner.
• Participate in the completion and analysis of monthly statutory and IFRS financial reporting packages, including various standard reports used to compare and analyze results.
• Cross-training and backup of other Finance department functions.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Accurate and thorough completion of special projects.
• Required to complete 8 hours of community service.
• Maintain cohesive working relationship with all areas of the company.

Education/Experience Required

• BA in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
• Four years of financial reporting or accounting experience (preferably in insurance industry).
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ongoing continuing education and development required.
