Full Job Description: Senior Accountant

Sage Investment Group is a private investment fund specializing in acquiring and improving the value of medium sized multi-family properties across the US. We’re a high growth firm with expectations of 30% annualized increases in equity under management and are looking for high performers who are excited to tackle new challenges and take ownership of solutions.

Objective

Drive day-to-day operational activities related to financial and accounting operations ensuring deadlines and internal customer needs are met and the control environment is operating effectively. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions

• Drive the day-to-day general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: month, quarter and year-end close, accounts payable, cash receipts, general ledger, fixed asset activity
• Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
• Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
• Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
• Preparation of financial reports
• Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
• Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
• Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns
• Actively review and advise on financial/accounting processes
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Supervising accounting staff

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; CPA preferred; proven professional accounting working experience; 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including significant month end close experience as this position will be responsible for timely completion each month; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability:

• Knowledge to prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analysis.
• Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to make decisions, act upon them and accept accountability for outcome of decisions
• Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communication (oral and written) skills
• Ability to direct and supervise
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• QuickBooks Online experience a plus
• Public accounting experience a plus

Pay: $50,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
