Annual Base Salary: $68,000 to $85,000 CAD

About The Team

The Python team develops and maintains Python based plugins, FME Packages, external APIs for C++, Python, Java, and .Net. Additionally, the team maintains the Python framework for FME and provides Python consulting for other teams at Safe.

About The Role

The Software Developer is responsible for developing, writing and maintaining code for Python based Readers, Writers, and Transformers used by FME Engine. They will build and maintain the tools and framework used to create, develop and run FME Packages. Additionally, they will occasionally maintain the external APIs supported by the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Write and design readable, maintainable and performant code.

Analyze (debug) issues and properly resolve them if feasible.

Learn and understand new (and existing) technologies based on planned new features.

Write and maintain technical documentation based on code implementation.

Test implementations and create automated tests around code written.

Evaluate development tools and existing technologies for internal use.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

Strong understanding of technical languages and programs (related to the role).

Strong willingness to learn that can adapt well to change.

Critical thinker with high attention to detail.

Works well independently and in a team setting.

Problem solver.

Self-motivated.

Ability to clearly define problems and solutions.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
