Your Mission
As a Manager, Application Development at SADA, you will manage and grow our software engineering team focused on developing or refactoring solutions for our clients on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Our team assists with net-new application development, modernization from on-premises or other clouds onto GCP, and supporting feature development for our clients’ existing applications. You will be responsible for managing a team of Application Development engineers with a diverse set of skills and talents, covering backend, frontend, and mobile development; so a broad background in across programming languages is required, as well as a focus on agile and user-centered development.
The diversity of customers that SADA works with and the variety of projects for those customers ensures a steady flow of challenging work. Be prepared to tackle real-world problems that our customers find too difficult or time-consuming to solve themselves. Engagements vary from being purely consultative to requiring heavy hands-on work, and cover a diverse array of domain areas, including new and developing technologies, such as new Google products in the Maps space. Management here at SADA also means developing people, being a leader, and designing new solutions in tandem with our sales teams.
In this role, you will:
Be comfortable working with customer executives to align business outcomes with technical vision and goals
Guide the day-to-day activities of a geographically distributed team, including hiring world class talent, reviewing work and setting goals
Assist our Solution Architects in the development of proposals and statements of work that the engineering team will execute
Provide technical and professional leadership and mentorship on a diverse range of subject matter areas, such as Application Architecture, UI/UX Design, QA/Documentation, Requirements Gathering, Gap Analysis, and Solution Research
Develop and codify best practices for the team that can be replicated across multiple customer engagements. This includes how we operate, but also what we deliver, including reusable templates, repeatable solutions, and process improvements
Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads as a hands-on manager

Expectations
Required Travel – Customer Facing – You will interact with customers on a regular basis. Common touchpoints occur during discovery and scoping of opportunities, at project kickoff, throughout the engagement, at project close, and other opportunities that drive value for the customer and in turn, for SADA. You can expect to interact with a range of customer stakeholders, including engineers, technical project managers, and executives.
Onboarding/Training – The first several weeks of onboarding are dedicated to learning and will encompass learning materials/assignments and compliance training, as well as meetings with relevant individuals. Details of the timeline are shared closer to the start date.
Job Requirements
Required Credentials:
Google Professional Cloud Architect Certified or able to complete within the first 90 days of employment
Required Qualifications:
Experience leading, managing and hiring a team of talented engineers across multiple domains
Experience with Agile, Kanban, or similar project management methodologies
Expertise in the following domain areas:
Application modernization: detailed understanding of application architectures, web services, micro-services, and integrating applications with SaaS/PaaS vendors
Application development: requirements gathering and analysis, research into potential solutions, developing architectures for implementing
UI/UX design: customer-centric focus, an understanding of the design process and deliverables, capable of providing direction to design/architecture teams
Expertise in at least two of the following domains:
Customer facing communications
Enterprise or Solutions Architecture
Pre-sales engineering and scoping
Product development
Experience in technical consulting or other similar customer facing role
Exposure to full stack development, from setting up application and database server infrastructure to developing and implementing application code
Ability to architect, scope, and prioritize work based on feedback from the customer or internal teams
Useful Qualifications:
Experience using Google Cloud Platform, in particular serverless (Cloud Functions), containers (Cloud Run, Kubernetes), and platforms (App Engine)
Expertise in development with one or more of the following languages: Go, Python, Node.js, .NET/C#
Familiarity with the ReactJS/Redux and Angular frameworks
Experience in writing automated tests, including unit, integration, and acceptance tests
Exposure to the Google Maps API, PostGIS, GDAL, or other Geospatial display and analytics APIs/frameworks
Experience in a large scale, high-volume enterprise environments, including tuning applications for non-functional requirements, such as: usability, maintainability, scalability, availability, security, and portability
Experience developing internal consulting SOPs and best practices
