The opportunity:

We are seeking an elite Graduate Accountant to support a number of Fund Accounting and Investment Operation functions. This will be a career defining opportunity for exposure across all aspects of Funds SA’s investment operations activities, over a two-year Graduate Program.

As the Graduate Accountant, you will be reporting to the Manager of Fund Accounting. The role works closely with other members of the Fund Accounting and Investment Operations teams. The role also liaises with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support the objectives of the Fund Accounting and Investment Operations teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Contributing to the preparation of daily and monthly reconciliations, reports and verification processes to ensure financial based information on several internal and outsourced systems are accurate
• Assist senior members of the team in assurance processes and maintenance of team functions by reviewing data, setting up accounts and implementing structural changes
• Contribute to the identification of issues or discrepancies as they arise and liaising with internal teams, clients and external service providers for resolution
• Identify and initiate transactions, including cash settlement, accounting or tax entries as required and ensuring these transactions are appropriately processed
• Contribute to the preparation of various financially based reports including periodic financial statements, regulatory reporting and client reports
• Prepare and collate data from internal and external sources associated with Funds SA’s investment management expenses and indirect cost ratios
• Assist in completing detailed analysis and quality assurance of various investment expenses
• Build effective and positive working relationships with key stakeholders to encourage collaboration across the business
• Actively participate in a range of development opportunities, including on the job training, attendance at relevant industry courses and mentoring.

What we are looking for:

• A degree in finance, commerce, accounting or similar
• Understanding of accounting systems and general ledger software
• Understand the purpose of financial statements and accounting standards
• Awareness of relevant legislation, regulation and industry standards relating to Funds SA’s activities
• Basic understanding of financial markets
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with a range of technologies, including the Microsoft suite, databases, and other technology platforms
• Effective time management, oral and written skills
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a team to deliver high performance and build strong relationships
• Highly motivated and engaged with a willingness to contribute as an effective, reliable and productive team player
