RTI International’s Center for Education Services (CES) has an immediate opening for an Educational Leadership Specialist. CES focuses on building the skills and professional capacity of K-12 educators to overcome challenges, improve practice, and sustain performance. From the classroom to the board room, we focus on four areas that we believe are levers for change in education: strengthening instruction, developing leaders, improving organizational operations, and facilitating collaborative networks.

The Educational Leadership Specialist will join a team that believes in servant leadership, research, innovation and empowering K-12 educators to reach their highest potential, so that all students reach theirs. Our partners tend to be innovative and growth-minded schools, districts, and organizations who embrace the opportunities of an ever-changing education landscape.

This position will have the specific responsibility of building the capacity of schools to implement and sustain reform and innovation to ensure that all students graduate prepared for college and/or work.
This position will also provide coaching to support the implementation of best practices for instruction that meet the diverse needs of students, enhance in-person, hybrid, and remote instruction, and cultivate equitable learning environments for all students. Educational Leadership Specialists provide on-site support for district leaders, principals, teacher leaders, and school planning teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work directly with teachers, principals, and district administrators to achieve co-constructed goals and enhance opportunities for students
  • Provide coaching to educational practitioners
  • Facilitate professional learning to deepen educational leaders’ knowledge, build new skills, and implement evidence-based strategies
  • Research national and international best practices of successful schools and districts that can be applied to local contexts and provide expertise on implementing district and state policies and strategies.
  • Contribute to multi-state business development and market analysis efforts to broaden RTI’s impact
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous service improvement efforts and new service design
  • Foster strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and community partners
  • Guide district and school leadership in developing and implementing an improvement plan focused on advancing student outcomes
  • Align professional development with the goal of improving instructional outcomes
  • Support the development of professional learning communities to systematize a process for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the implementation and utilization of formative assessment to drive instructional decisions.
  • Guide the district and/or school in strengthening quality teacher recruitment and hiring efforts
  • Work with clients to develop an overall change management strategy including actionable and targeted plans for communications, stakeholder management, training and project management.
  • Build the capacity of district and school leaders to implement and sustain reform and innovation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree and at least 6 years of experience; or a PhD and at least 1 year of experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in public school leadership/administration.
  • Mastery in analyzing and drawing conclusions from multiple sources of data.
  • Project management experience and ability to manage competing tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Mastery in facilitating and presenting in front of groups.
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills.
  • “Client first” disposition evidenced by flexibility, humility and commitment to public service.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to travel, when appropriate, domestically up to 50%, annually.
  • Comfort with facilitating and presenting in front of groups of varying sizes and audiences.
  • Advanced written communication and organization skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Google’s Suite of Tools.
  • Advanced skills with virtual platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional coaching or consulting experience preferred.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
