The Opportunity:

This exciting opportunity is a 12 month fixed term contract (with the potential opportunity to go permanent) for a Financial Accountant in our Broadmeadow, Newcastle office. The Financial Accountant is responsible for gathering and monitoring financial data, preparing statements (balance sheets and income statements), forecasting costs and revenues, managing tax payments, organising internal audits, and analysing financial trends to support the company’s financial decisions.

The Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute towards the development of organisational accounting and finance strategies, policies, procedures, practices and plans.
• Assist in the preparation of various statistical, financial and accounting s (such as cost s, cash flow s, statutory returns, balance sheets, liquidity, profit and loss, sales, capital expenditure, debtors/creditors and end-of-year financials)
• Assist in the preparation of financial data for submission to external bodies as required (including foreign company ing).
• Review, interpret and analyse statistical, financial and accounting s and present them to senior management, with recommendations for increasing organisational profitability and use in decision-making.
• Identifies and implements accounting and finance process improvements.
• Manage and execute foreign currency payments and transfers, including review of the most favourable exchange rates available.
• Maintain the Motor Vehicle register.
• Reconcile intercompany loans and debtors/creditors. Administer payments and ensure required balances are maintained.
• Prepares taxation s for FBT and R&D claims
• Reviews and provides analysis/advice on capital expenditure plans, expansion projects, production plans and any other areas required.
• Liaises with individual business units to prepare and interpret budgets and forecasts.
• Monitors the organizational/divisional performance against budget and KPIs and advises of variances.
• Assists with designing and implementing systems for management ing to improve the efficiency and accuracy of ing.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Relevant accounting tertiary qualification, e.g., commerce degree.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare, interpret, analyse and communicate accounting and financial data.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant accounting standards and taxation laws.
• CA or CPA qualified or working towards qualification.
