What is the opportunity?
Within the Associate Director, Compensation position you will be supporting RBC’s Capital Markets and Technology, Operations and Functional (TOF) business’s in the UK, and as a member of the Compensation Centre of Expertise, you will contribute to RBC’s ability to attract, retain and motivate employees. You will proactively identify and lead key regional projects, make recommendations and provide solutions on compensation policies and practices which align with RBC principles and local business needs. As a key partner to business leaders you will provide business partners and management with expert advice on all aspects of compensation programs, policies, initiatives and solutions. You will also provide supervisory support by providing guidance on routine matters and ensuring best practice to mitigate any risk.
What will you do?
Identify and analyse the key compensation levers that influence employee engagement and business results
Lead and contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and frameworks that support business goals and objectives
Using a consultative and analytical approach and in-depth fact-based analysis, develop and present recommendations to senior leaders and business executives using effective impact, influence and consulting skills
Manage all local market survey participation to ensure quality and timely pricing of jobs, leverage own network for market insights and investigate new sources of market intelligence
Provide supervisory support and guidance for all ad-hoc job pricing requests to enhance pay decisions and to support the Recruitment team
Proactively seek market intelligence from a variety of alternative sources, including media commentary, networking, and monitoring of recruitment and resignations
Oversee bonus planning data and quarterly accruals accurately and manage year end compensation cycle (September to December) including system preparation, data management, and liaising with HR colleagues
Liaise with Compensation COE members in North America and with HR team members globally to share information and respond to enquiries
Develop and deliver compensation updates to key stakeholders to ensure that they are aware of current RBC pay policies and the associated factors which influence pay decisions
Partner with the regional D&I head to proactively lead on compensation elements of our D&I strategy and with regional ER team lead to proactively drive compensation elements linked to new or updated HR policies across the UK, CI & Europe.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Quantitative / Analytical undergraduate degree or similar
Strong analytical skills and numeracy; excellent attention to detail is critical
High comfort level with information technology: Excel at least to intermediate level; explores technology solutions to maximise efficiency
Excellent time management skills, ability to manage competing priorities and effectively manage relevant stakeholders
Good verbal communication skills to discuss sensitive issues around pay and job levels. This includes being able to challenge pay demands and encourage a broader perspective.
Good written communication skills to draft presentations and reports.
Nice-to-have
Experience with McLagan salary surveys
Familiarity with EBA and PRA/FCA Remuneration Rules including Code Staff identification and pay
Advanced Excel.
