We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager focusing on Global Talent Visas in the International Partnerships team.
The role
As Global Talent Visa Programme Manager you will lead the delivery of the Academy’s role as an Endorsing Body for the Global Talent visa route.
The Global Talent visa is an important visa route which enables brilliant engineers and innovators to bring their skills to the UK for the benefit of UK science and society. This means your role will be directly contributing to our overall strategy and helping us deliver our charity benefits. In this role you will ensure effective operation and governance of the Academy’s role in the route, including management of at least one team member providing day to day administration of the route, take responsibility for the continuous improvement of route governance, and in partnership with the Home Office and other endorsing bodies, develop and promote the route for the benefit of the research and innovation community. You will be joining our friendly and supportive International Partnerships team that promotes and fosters international collaboration and mobility across the UK and global engineering communities.
Who are we looking for?
You will have sound judgement and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, and a strong interest in engineering talent or visa issues and ability to develop your own knowledge and expertise. You will have experience of programme or project management or similar roles, and enjoy building effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. You will have good knowledge of either the UK engineering, research and innovation landscape or UK immigration systems, as well as a good understanding of academic career pathways. While previous experience on visas or immigration is desirable, we also welcome applications from people with broader experience of assessment of technical or engineering talent (including e.g. recruitment for technical roles).
We are looking for candidates who would be interested and committed to working on a fixed term basis either; full-time (36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday) or part-time (29 hours per week, working four consecutive working days per week which includes ‘Tuesday’ being the Team Day. Ideally candidates will also be available to start as soon as possible.
