Position Summary

The Senior Finance Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Senior Finance Manager will oversee the financial management of each of the organization’s entities. This includes the financial management of the organizations general accounting operations by controlling and verifying all financial transactions. Responsibilities include overseeing reconciled account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledgers and financial statements, overseeing timely month-end close procedures, and compiling accurate financial reporting internally and for external funders.

Essential Functions

• Teach, coach and mentor all direct reports. Evaluates the work performance of staff, completes performance evaluations, and implements discipline according to policy.

• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) principles.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Serve as Finance Leader in internal meetings with organizational leadership.
• Oversee all account reconciliations.
• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information for all entities.
• Manage payroll transactions and process.
• Produce error-free financial reports with supporting analysis.
• Develop annual financial operations plan and accompanying department goals in tandem with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
• Optimize accounting software and HR Information System reporting.
• Prepare timely financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Generate reporting for external entities as requested and needed.
• All other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Expectations

• In-depth understanding of GAAP.
• Awareness of business trends.
• Experience with generating financial statements, budgets and forecasts.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, Financial Edge preferred.
• Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Professional experience leading and inspiring a finance team
• Collaborative and systems approach to problem solving

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Proven experience in a financial leadership position, 6-8 years’ experience.
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
• Master’s degree preferred.
