OBJECTIVE OF THIS POSITION
The Cost Accounting Manager is accountable for the internal analysis of tracing costs back to underlying activities and includes measuring and allocating costs of products/services by the company. This position must be able to lead, contribute and succeed in a team environment. The Cost Accounting Manager is entrusted to managing projects successfully and must be capable of meeting deadlines for completing commitments.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
· Analyze current state of cost accounting methodology and develop future state methodology.
· Develop projects, priorities, and timelines for completing future cost accounting methodology.
· Establish labor and overhead burden rates.
· Develop inventory valuation methodology and month-end closing processes for RM, WIP and FG inventories.
· Develop labor and overhead absorption analysis.
· Develop plant cost analyses and participate in annual budget preparation.
· Develop product line and customer profitability reporting.
· Assist in developing required inventory reserves.
· Document all processes and procedures and train backup personnel in all aspects of the cost accounting function.
JOB DESCRIPTION
· Collaboration with IT, Operation, Estimating, and Accounting functions is required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
· CPA/CMA/MBA is preferred.
· 10-year minimum experience within related field including managing projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and reporting of financial data.
· Knowledge of business and management principles within strategic planning and resource allocation.
· Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Databases, ERPs, and Reporting systems especially with Great Plains.
· Ability to administer and manage large databases including data extractions, uploading and report writing.
· Capable of effectively considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the more appropriate one.
· Experience within a large manufacturing company with Lean Six Sigma cultures.
· Must be comfortable in developing processes, procedures, and reporting.
· Must be able to work well with others at all levels within the corporation.
· Ability to work without supervision and be detail oriented.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a team in a strategic planning capacity.
