We’re building the future of data capture for engineers and geologists in geosciences. We’re continuously inventing new capabilities for our vertical-stack solution in an industry ripe for change. We have a variety of software and hardware packages which includes data collection and mapping applications run on a handheld industrial scanner in addition to a cloud database and integrations platform.

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will help us manage and release new software suites and the latest versions of our software applications. As a Software Project Manager, you will play a key role in prioritizing feature sets and working alongside the software engineering team to release software updates on a regular basis. You will also work alongside the hardware engineering, geotechnical engineering and geology teams within RockMass to best understand the end customer.

Additional responsibilities may include leading sprint planning and retrospectives, setting milestones for each version, managing version control, and ensuring user stories are up to date.

Responsibilities

Manage and prioritize project timelines and resources

Plan new software features/versions and identify appropriate risks

Lead the software team’s development through each project stage through progress monitoring, status reports, and check-ins

Oversee software maintenance, testing and validation

Oversee triaging of software defects and issue assignments

Perform issue management in project management tools (JIRA, Gitlab)

Act as a central point of communication between Business and Software teams

Relieve non-development tasks from developers

Qualifications

5+ years background in software engineering or computer science field

2+ years proven project management experience with software teams

2+ years applied agile methodologies in software teams

Minimum BASc (MASc preferred) in electrical, computer science, software related field

Good to have

Industry experience as a scrum master or other team lead

Industry experience with embedded or hardware products

Industry experience leading at tech startups or enterprise software companies

Experience with Git, CI/CD, and other development pipeline systems

Experience with JIRA or similar platform

Knowledge of geotechnical/geological practices
