About You

You’re a proven creative leader who is strong in digital. If digital is not your thing, then this really isn’t the role for you. You’ll also have had plenty of agency experience working with mid-market clients. If working on huge brands at global agencies is your sweet spot, then this is also not the role for you.

You’ll have had solid experience leading a team, and making those around you successful is something you genuinely love.

Your current role is Creative Director, but if you’re a perfect fit in all other respects, you might be an ambitious and very talented Associate Creative Director (or similar) who’s ready for a challenge.

We think the perfect person for this role will have a copywriting background plus a great design eye. That said, if you started out on the design side of things but have significant experience working with copy, and just as importantly messaging and creative strategy, then don’t be shy. This is your chance to convince us you’re exactly what we need.

Last but not least, you pride yourself on being entrepreneurial. Perhaps you’ve run your own business or passion project, but at the very least you know what it means to approach a creative problem with a business and results mindset (both for the agency and the client).

A list of things you love doing includes:

• Actual billable work (this role is not for you if you want to move away from client work).
• Coming up with fantastic ideas that resonate with different types of audiences and pitching those ideas to our clients and prospects.
• Developing your team of designers, writers and more including overseeing their work and proactively mentoring them.
• Keeping your team on budget and on time.
• Coming up with innovative ways of making us more effective for our clients.
• Bringing others along for the journey – this role will include changing how the team at Rocket thinks about and delivers creative work.

About the Role

The first thing you need to know is that you won’t be walking into a fully formed creative team. There is exciting work to be done.

Right now, we’re an award-winning performance digital agency with a proven design and copywriting team (Head of Design, three designers, two copywriters and the occasional freelancer for other things). We’ve done a ton of impressive work that our clients love, but we know there is so much more we can be doing when it comes to offering standalone creative services to companies with solid budgets who understand that great creative is the key to results when it comes to marketing and advertising.

The goal is for our creative team to be as important to Rocket as our performance offering. We believe we have a great foundation in place, but we’re looking for someone who knows where we need to go and how to take us there.

Our current team delivers excellent work in social ads, display ads, YouTube ads, landing pages, websites, emails, eBooks, long and short-form content, videos and more. We want to take this work to the next level from a strategic and creative perspective and expand our offering into other areas that will help our clients achieve their goals.

There is a real opportunity to make your mark in this role. Senior roles do not come up often at Rocket, and we see the Creative Director being a core part of what we’re doing now and in the future.
