Are you an Assistant Controller who can work independently and has strong technical skills and a passion for analytics? Robert Half is looking for a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join a dynamic, fast-growing team in the Printing/Publishing field. This Assistant Controller position is a long-term contract / temporary employment opportunity and is based in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

What you get to do every day

• Coordinate and lead external financial audits
• Assist in the development of the accounting team, including staffing, performance management, and training
• Support the Company with technical accounting GAAP mentorship and external reporting
• Oversee treasure functions to ensure timely payment for vendors and maintain accuracy of cash forecasts
• Effectively prepare reporting packages on a monthly and quarterly basis and supply to Board meeting decks
• Maintain accounting and reporting policies
• Arrange and manage account reconciliations/analyses for both balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Supervise financial executive package and control book on a monthly basis, ensuring it includes budget to actual comparisons by department

Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close including financial statements

This position may also require participation in impromptu analyses/projects, system improvements, and special projects as assigned

• Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in SOX control execution/documentation
• Relevant industry experience
• Financial statement preparation experience desired
• Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
• Forward thinking mentality, ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work
• Relevant industry experience (preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite tasks upon request
• Be detailed, flexible, and organized
• Bachelor degree in Accounting
• Understanding GAAP and firm accounting policies and procedure
• Self-starter and strong ethical standards
