About the College
The College of Design and Social Context encompasses RMIT University’s renowned art, architecture, design, built environment, communication, and social science disciplines. The college has 24,500 students and over 1,000 staff located in 8 schools. The position sits within the School of Education which offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in education, pre-service teacher education, early childhood education, educational research, professional learning and short courses.
About the Role
The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in the Health and Physical Education area and other disciplines related to Teacher Education Programs and at least one other discipline area in education, preferably curriculum and assessment. The successful applicant is also expected to supervise research projects and theses at the postgraduate level in areas related to their areas of expertise, contribute to School, College and University strategic plan targets in research and/or consultancy, and maintain and develop his/her professional standing within the profession or discipline.
The appointee is also expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team and undertake administrative tasks as appropriate.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will be required to meet the below criteria :
The ability to prepare, deliver and coordinate face to face/ intensive/ fully online Teacher Education Programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
The capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
The ability to teach Teacher Education Programs effectively in primary/middle and/or secondary school settings and contribute to the professional learning of practicing teachers.
Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
The ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field (or near completion as a minimum).
The successful applicant must have a completed PhD in a relevant discipline and a recognised teaching qualification together with recent experience appropriate to the Australian Primary and/or Middle and/or Secondary School sector.
