Overview:

  • Casual Sessional role commencing late January 2021

  • Approximately 7 hours per week, based at either the City or Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at the other campuses of the University

A bout the Role:

We are currently seeing expressions of interest within the School of Education to facilitate courses from late January 2022 . These courses will range from the Undergraduate level to the Masters. As a tutor, your role would encompass three functions:

  • The delivery of pre-planned academic content

  • The facilitation of learning activities, assessment tasks, including webinars and discussion

  • The marking of assessments, and the processing and submission of assessment results

We are looking for Tutors to assist in the following subject areas :

  • Literacy

  • Numeracy

  • Early C hildhood E ducation

  • Career E ducation

  • Inclusive E ducation

  • Indigenous Education

  • STEAM

The time commitment over a thirteen-week period could be between four to eight hours per week, depending on the class size and course requirements, plus additional time for onboarding and coaching. In weeks where assessments are required to be marks, the time commitment could be higher.

About You:

You will possess a wealth of knowledge, industry experience and skills in your field of expertise . You will have the know-how to utilise this experience to maximize the student experience. You must be willing to engage with RMIT facilitation strategies and be willing to:

  • To be coached

  • To reflect on your teaching style and adapt to student needs

  • To implement feedback based on best practice and student feedback

  • To make sense of the course content which may have little direction

Qualifications:

  • Tutors delivering a Bachelor’s level course must have a minimum of a Graduate Diploma in a content area related to the course and discipline. Qualifications should be accompanied by relevant industry experience.

  • Tutors delivering within the undergraduate level course must have a minimum of a graduate diploma.

  • Teaching experience in the higher education context, particularly online, is highly desirable.

  • Candidates who have 3+ years of industry experience are highly valued

Mandatory:

A relevant tertiary degree and /or extensive project and administrative expertise in a complex tertiary education or similar service environment.
