Do you have experience with manual milling and CNC setting and operating?
Would you be interested in a role that isn’t working in manufacturing but still uses your CNC skills in an empowered, fun and technically interesting role?
In this role you will work within one of London’s famous universities working with the next generation of engineers. In this role you will work as part of a team of technical staff to support a large volume of varied activity within the School of Engineering & Materials Science (SEMS), supporting research and teaching programmes.
In this varied and truly unique role you will work on a variety of different projects that will pose different challenges.
The ideal candidate must have experience in manual milling, CNC setting and operating (Laths and Mills and have experience with CAD/CAM software

The role:
*Monday to Friday days based role
*35 hours a week
*Manufacture and construct prototypes and experimental equipment to a high precision in close consultation with the end-user or project team.
*The use of standard machine tools and ideally CNC machinery and CAD/CAM systems.
*Provide the end-user with full documentation of materials and processes used, and their characteristics and performance
*Assist with the operation and maintenance of Workshop facilities and carry out repairs and adjustments of equipment
*Undertake training to develop skills in a wide variety of techniques including CNC machining, welding and tool-making
*Follow and help maintain systems in place to enable effective and efficient workshop management
The person:
*Candidates will ideally be time served.
*Candidates must be confident and competent with setting and operating manual milling machinery.
*Experience in CNC setting and operating laths and milling machines.
*Good general workshop skills including the use of standard equipment and bench tools, work-holding techniques.
*The correct use of measuring equipment.
*Candidate must have experience with CAD and CAM software.
*Good knowledge and understanding of workshop H&S issues and relevant regulations.
