Within our company wide Information Systems & Technology function, we are building an internal software development and delivery team focussing on high value and strategic products for the digital transformation of Rio Tinto. We are building this capability and capacity with the support of a strategic partnership with Endava, one of the world’s leading software engineering companies. We are seeking experienced Senior Business Analysts to join our growing team within our Product & Software Development (P&SD) team. As the preferred applicant, you will be responsible for understanding different stakeholders’ needs, in order to translate them into requirements to implement automated and non-automated process improvements. You will be responsible for defining the systems specifications and acceptance criteria to help design, deploy and adopt systems within the company.

You will have a track record of running methodical investigations and analysis to understand and implement effective business solutions and improve processes by reducing costs, enhancing sustainability, and the qualification of potential business benefits. You will be confident in building working relationships and partnering with a variety of senior level stakeholders across the business.

Reporting to the Manager Product Portfolio, your responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Establishing relationships with key stakeholders through thorough understanding of the business domain and consultancy.
• Facilitating effective communication between various organizational units, either internal or external.
• Providing solution directions and recommendations based on the client’s needs, environment specifics and industry trends.
• Creating and keeping up to date the product backlog (creating user stories and acceptance criteria from the product vision and epics).
• Working closely with engineering teams and ensuring that user stories are implemented in line with the product vision and timelines.
• Understanding the market reasoning behind given requirements and ensuring that development teams deliver it according to global business goals and feature specifics.
• Preparing Business Analysis Plan, Business Case, Business Requirements Specifications, Functional Specifications using User Stories, Use Cases, Non-Functional Specifications, depending on the project phase or needs.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification
• Extensive experience working as a product owner and/or business analyst in an Agile environment, defining business requirements and creating user stories
• Demonstrable ability to translate business needs into solution requirements and define those in a written format that allows engineering teams to align behind the product vision
• Have applied various business analysis techniques to obtain valuable outputs
• Demonstrable adaptability for working in unknown contexts: business domain, project life cycle, client team-specific ways of working
• Knowledge and experience of software development planning techniques, including Agile, Scrum

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience in mining industry.
• Robotic process automation experience.
• Techniques for analyzing and re-designing business processes which have been modelled. e.g., Lean Six-Sigma and process cycle time reduction.
• Performing a proof of concept or prototyping exercise to demonstrate or evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of applying a particular technological business change to meet a business need
