The Opportunity

We are looking for an Advisor – Transfer Pricing to join the global transfer pricing team on a permanent full-time basis commencing immediately. This is a newly created role that provides a unique opportunity to develop skills in transfer pricing including automation and gaining knowledge of Rio Tinto’s various commercial business models. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for managing transfer pricing compliance and reporting across Asia by adopting automation solutions and to provide transfer pricing advice to our growing global Commercial business headquartered in Singapore. The successful candidate will work on several diverse projects with a range of internal stakeholders supporting several transfer pricing managers in transfer pricing advisory and audits as required.

As part of a global team, the role is dynamic and at times the role may require work outside of normal business hours, including participating in meetings and calls with colleagues across Singapore, Australia, London, the U.S.A. and Montreal. • A key priority will be to manage the transfer pricing compliance requirements across Asia, including:
  • Coordinate and assist with preparation of transfer pricing documentation in Asia, with a focus on Singapore and China.
  • Assist with local related party reporting requirements in Asia.
  • Coordinate benchmarking analyses for the Asian region.
• Identifying continuous improvement opportunities especially in the transfer pricing compliance and reporting automation space.
• Assist with the group’s transfer pricing reporting obligations, including updating the Master File and assisting with the preparation of the Country-by-Country Report.
• Assist Transfer Pricing Managers in providing timely and commercially relevant transfer pricing services to various staff in the Commercial business, including in the areas of sales & marketing, trading, marine, logistics, treasury and insurance.
• Gather necessary financial and non-financial information and liaise with the personnel from various business units and undertake regular inter-company transactions reviews.
• Support the project management and implementing of transfer pricing projects as a core team member.
• Perform annual true-up analysis and work with finance to book amounts in annual statutory accounts.
• Working with the transfer pricing managers to provide transfer pricing support on audits in the Asian region, including where relevant, Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAPs) and Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs).

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or business-related field.
• 3 to 5 years’ working experience in Transfer Pricing, either in Public Accounting firms or in-house
• Demonstrated experience in transfer pricing including preparation of transfer pricing documentation and compliance filings.
• Transfer Pricing implementation experience with a working accounting knowledge of systems and inter-company journals (i.e. preparation of TP adjustments) while not essential, would be well regarded.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail and strong business writing skills.
• Experience in, or commitment to learn Power BI and developing tax automation skills.
• Ability to prioritise competing tasks and work on multiple assignments with competing deadlines and stakeholders.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, problem solving / solution oriented, sense of ownership and project leadership, being solution oriented.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others in different functional areas and with a diverse background and skillset.
