Richmond University Medical Center Hiring for Dietician – Bariatric Surgery at Staten Island, NY Full Time

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Registered Dietician will provide nutritional guidance and counseling to pre and postoperative metabolic and bariatric surgery patients through the development, implementation and monitoring of individualized dietary recommendations pertaining to weight loss surgery, in accordance with departmental and professional standards

Job Functions

• Completes comprehensive nutritional screening and assessments for the MBS patient with formally documented evaluations including, but not limited to weight history, eating behaviors, lifestyle habits, psychosocial factors, body composition and energy requirements, metabolism, biochemical, and nutritional analysis
• Recommends personalized and appropriate nutrition intervention to the MBS patient, pre-operatively and post-operatively based on subjective and objective data including, but not limited to protein, iron, vitamin and other micronutrient analysis
• Educates patients on individualized plans based on current recommendations and patients varying needs
• Participates in team meetings
• Collaborates and communicates findings to interdisciplinary team and others as appropriate
• Participates in and/or leads support groups
• Keeps informed of current Bariatric research, including but not limited to the ASMBS Position Statement on Preoperative Patient Optimization before Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and ASMBS Integrated Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient
• Participates in continuing education and/or other appropriate activities to maintain current certification

Minimum Qualifications

• NYS certified dietitian
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Specialized knowledge, experience and training relevant to obesity and weight loss surgery highly preferred

Please note that the hours for this position will include remote, Saturday and evening hours.
