Position: Principal Kindergarten to 8th Grade
FLSA Designation: Salaried / Exempt
Classification: Full-time / 230 days
Position Reports to: Executive Director

Position Summary:

In support of the RFMA mission, the Principal is responsible for the management of the school’s management, data analysis, instructional goals, management of culture, leading learning services, and developing and guiding data-driven instruction.

Key responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership

• Manage two Assistant Principals to achieve instructional goals and evaluates progress in each goal
• Support the development of whole-school teacher-driven professional goals through a regular observation process
• Collaborate with the Assistant Principal to plan and implement teacher professional development, including coordination of action research collaboratives and whole-staff professional development sessions
• Leads and manages the instructional coaching program
• Leads the Early Literacy Development goals for the school

Curriculum & Assessment Leadership

• Manage and oversee whole school curriculum alignment, development, and data analysis
• Oversee and ensure whole school accountable implementation of assessment design and data analysis; accountable forms of assessment include daily, weekly, unit exams, iReady interims, mid-term exams, and final exams.
• Evaluates whole school performance data to make holistic as well as individual recommendations to improve school-wide instructional practices, with specific attention to English Language Learners and needs for the Middle and Elementary

Schools

School Culture

• Analyzes whole school culture and determines times to modify systems to improve processes and unity.
• Oversee consistent implementation and upholding of cultural expectations
• Leads the implementation of school-wide culture plans
• Support Assistant Principals with student accountability and discipline matters, including coordinating and facilitating student-teacher interventions and parent-teacher-student interventions.
• Manage responses to parent concerns not resolved at the Assistant Principal level
• Supports Assistant Principals in planning resolada (assemblies)

Learning Services Leader

• Manages the Learning Services team weekly
• Manages Assistant Principals around Elementary and Middle School Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
• Manages instruction with a constant focus on English Language Learning development
• Tracks whole school data and development of students receiving learning services and adjusting services to ensure growth and achievement expectations are being met.

School Operations

• Manage whole school academic and cultural programming
• Lead in duties assigned
• With the rest of the administrative team, create the school calendar
• Manages different calendars of the school and ensures that scheduling is taking place in an organized manner.

Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree required
• Minimum of 6 years successful teaching experience required
• Experience working with English Language Learners – required
• Significant experience with curriculum development and instructional methodology
• Past experience leading adults in a school environment
• Flexibility and willingness to actively participate in the school community including
• Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail; outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in an entrepreneurial environment
• Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and teamwork
• Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to one’s work
• Commitment to the belief that all students can learn and to the mission of social consciousness
• Spanish bilingual preferred
• Principal or administrative license preferred
