Position: Software Engineer, Principal
Location: San Ramon, California (On-site)

Salary: $132,000 – $299,000
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for this role.
The Software Engineer, Principal will be a key member of the software development team and have the unique opportunity to build high-quality, creative business applications in a fast-moving, progressive work environment. You’ll think outside the box and add your own genius, passion, and interests to the software development lifecycle. Must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time. - Develop efficient, maintainable, and documented production software from scientific prototype code or specifications using software development best practices.
- Execute full lifecycle software development and serve as a subject matter expert in software design and development. Lead software projects, design, and code reviews.
- Propose and detail new designs in collaboration with the Software Manager and senior technical staff.
- Review software and algorithm specifications and provide feedback on potential areas of improvement.
- Continuously improve software development processes by implementing innovative methodologies and standards used for software development and testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years or more of professional hands-on development skills with Windows programming (e.g., C# / .NET, C++).
- Significant demonstrated experience developing WinForms and WPF/XAML applications and familiarity with MVVM design.
- Must have experience and the skills to develop attractive and efficient Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for Windows.
- Strong knowledge of database development (e.g., SQL Server, SQLite, etc.).
- Familiarity with standard software test techniques and tools (e.g., Unit Testing, Black Box Testing, etc.).
- Familiarity and experience using software source control systems (e.g., GIT, SVN, etc.).
- Significant experience with communications and command, and control technologies using Ethernet, RS232/RS485, USB, and CAN.
- Ability to build test, calibration, and automation programs for prototypes and manufacturing products.
- Demonstrable mastery of core software development methodologies such as Object-Oriented Programming, Agile Development, Common Design Patterns, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently convey technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and strong results orientation is a must!
