About the Job

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial accounting team deliver the financial reporting obligations for Rest, trustee and investment entities and trust, ensuring best practice financial controls are implemented and are aligned with the Rest strategy. Ensures accounting principles and practices are in place and delivered through the team to service, support and guide service partners and internal and external stakeholders on a day to day basis.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver the financial reporting activities of the Fund and other entities in the Rest Group to ensure compliance with all statutory financial reporting obligations
• Contribute to the preparation of the annual financial statements for Rest Group to ensure reports are produced and available on a timely and accurate basis.
• Remain abreast of key developments in relation to financial reporting to continually improve the quality and usefulness of Rest’s external financial reporting.
• Prepare relevant accounting papers to support the basis on which Rest Group entities have prepared financial reporting.
• Key contact for administrator, custodian, external auditor and tax advisor in relation to financial reporting obligations.
• Design, develop and implement new systems and processes to ensure ongoing efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
• Support the Data Reporting Analyst (Finance) in relation to financial reporting regulatory requirements.

About You:

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

• Demonstrated experience in an Accounting/Audit position
• Degree qualified in Finance/Accounting or relevant discipline
• CA/CPA Qualified
• Good knowledge of the Superannuation/Financial Services Industry.
• Understanding and knowledge of accounting standards and ability to apply them to commercial arrangements.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
