Education & Training Officer

Salary: Starting at £21,000 depending on experience (pro rata)

Part time: 3 days a week (days negotiable). Potential for additional hours.

RESOLVEit is a not-for-profit organisation empowering the community through personal safety and self-defence education, believing that everyone has the right to feel safe. The company approaches its tenth year of business following a pandemic that has exacerbated key issues of personal safety. To ensure that all of our products and services reflect current needs, we are working hard to update our resources and expand our team.

We are therefore looking for energetic team players, experienced in developing and delivering fun and engaging education-based workshops. Successful applicants will be able to independently plan, create, and deliver age appropriate activities in a variety of settings.

Please note that responsibilities include the teaching of low-level self-defence techniques, and working out in the community with children, young people, and/ or young adults. A full, clean driving licence and satisfactory enhanced DBS certificate is required before employment can commence.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing engaging age-appropriate workshops to educate varying audiences on issues of personal safety

• Promoting the work of RESOLVEit and booking sessions at schools, universities, and other community settings

• Leading and participating in the delivery of workshops and assemblies, to include teaching low-level self defence techniques

• Training teachers, youth workers and others to effectively deliver RESOLVEit content

• Using Excel spreadsheets to accurately record delivery data

• Actively participating in team meetings to discuss and develop workshop content and report on activities.

• Independently travelling to varying locations across Cardiff and the Vale (and other locations within South Wales if required)

• Contribute to the development of online educational resources

• Gathering data and sharing information with the team to aid youth led action

• Staying up to date with relevant developments in education and personal safety

• Representing RESOLVEit at events and conferences if required

• Building relationships in the relevant geographical area to enhance the delivery of programmes

• Supporting other team members and departments

• Contributing to whole company development/improvement, planning, implementation and evaluation

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering engaging lessons or workshops and will be passionate about empowering others to keep themselves safe.

A professional, enthusiastic and creative communicator able to organise their own work and schedule without close supervision. Although not essential, we encourage applications from Welsh speakers.

Essential Credentials

• Engaging, enthusiastic, and passionate delivery style

• Experience creating and delivering exciting, innovative lessons and/or workshops for a variety of audiences

• Confident and able to manage large groups of children and young people

• Ability to plan and deliver a range of engaging educational sessions

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to confidently represent RESOLVEit in a range of forums to establish and nurture strong beneficial relationships

• Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and business email

• Full driving licence and vehicle

• Satisfactory enhanced DBS certification

Desirable

• Experience of working in the education system/ youth sector in Wales

• A related degree or other relevant qualification

• Ability to plan and deliver sessions through the medium of Welsh

• Experience of monitoring, evaluating and/or reporting on own work activities and their impact

• Active participation in fitness related activity/knowledge of self-defence

Contract details

• Salary starting £21,000 depending on experience (pro rata)

• Contract duration: Permanent

• Hours: 3 days a week (days negotiable)

• Annual leave: 28 days including bank holidays (pro rata)
