Project Accountant

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Accountant to perform all billing functions related to assigned projects for a large commercial general contractor.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Engage in project from inception to completion and final closeout submission
• Accounts Receivable – ensure accurate and timely billings:
  • AIA Billings
  • T&M Billing
  • Electronic Billing
• Maintain and update the Master Billing Log
• Follow up on status of Pencil requistions
• Assist collections with timely payments
• Cost control and budget analysis of each assigned project in order to monitor project financial performance and ensure we are maintaining gross profit level
• Monitoring project cash flow
• Knowing projects milestone and completion dates
• Understanding of Contract terms
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable, including all vendor and subcontractor commitments
• Maintaining records for Cost to Complete project records
• Client communication including Architects, CM’s, GC’s, End Users
• Change order management and auditing
• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate records and compliance
• Understanding of General Ledger and Cost Codes
• Upload necessary documents: Award Letters, Purchase Orders, Reports, etc. any documentation required to assist in the timely invoicing and collecting of funds
• Creating and updating job folders with proper information and labeled correctly and kept securely
• Support PM’s with estimates, enforcing accountability of proper information recording
• Support PM’s with the scheduling and coordinating aspects of projects: work with outside vendors and Subcontractors to facilitate the support of project managers and supervisors in the field
• Assist with the maintenance and accurate reporting of the W.I.P. Report
• Maintain project Change Order Status Logs and follow up on status and paperwork
• Attend project management meetings

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years’ experience in a comparable role in accounting for a Construction Management/General Contracting company
• Strong experience managing project budgets, schedules and costing
• Excellent business analysis and cost analysis skills
• Able to identify key areas of improvement within financial processes and project workflows
• Ability to prepare financial data and facilitate organizational effectiveness under minimal supervision
• Ability to identify project-related risks
• Strong and organized leader with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Timberline software a plus
