Job Description
The vacancy is for a graduate, ideally with 2 or more years relevant experience, to work within a multi-disciplinary team on the design of innovative and technically advanced position measuring systems. The successful candidate will be involved in design, development and test of new products and their supporting software via a combination of simulation, mathematical modelling and experimental verification using physical sensors and mechanical systems.
Principal requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • First degree in Physics or Maths (alternatively, Engineering or Computing with a strong interest in physics/maths)
  • Natural inclination towards innovation and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of conscientiousness
Additional requirements
Some of the following would be advantageous:
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a related field and/or a higher-level qualification
  • Knowledge of using maths simulation/analysis packages, preferably Matlab.
  • Experience of writing software
  • An aptitude for geometry
  • Interest in image processing
  • Interest in optical systems
