Assistant Accountant: The role

This newly created role will provide support to ensure key financial close and day to day activities are completed in a robust and timely manner.

Key accountabilities include:

• Manage the end to end process of Fixed Asset accounting. Ensure the creation of assets comply with internal guidelines and financial reporting standards. Manage the fixed assets sub-ledger in an active manner though the month end activities and perform regular fixed asset inventory checks.

• Maintain the leased assets database (including off and on balance sheet commitments).

• Assist with the production of monthly management accounts including journal entries, variance analysis and insightful commentaries. Support of month end and year end close process.

• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are reviewed to agreed deadlines with all reconciling items investigated and resolved promptly.

• Responsible for timely and accurate input of financial results into FIA Cost Cap reporting tool. • Intrastat reporting and compliance.

• Work with external tax advisors to produce annual R&D and capital allowances tax reporting.

• Assistance with purchase ledger / stock duties – including supplier statement reconciliations, regular review of open POs and closing of works orders.

• Identify processes for improvement within the Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions.

• Undertake ad hoc assignments for Financial Reporting and FP&A team, as necessary.

Assistant Accountant – The person:

The successful candidate will be QBE or part qualified ACCA/CIMA/AAT with at least two years’ experience within a finance role. Ideally you will possess an understanding of modern management information systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI) strong MS Excel skills a good eye for detail, and an enquiring mind.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial colleagues. You must also have excellent planning and organising skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales.
