About the team & role:

The Finance Business Analyst is responsible for providing first class finance support to the Pacific Business including cost control, budgeting & forecasting and monthly variance analysis. The Business Analyst proactively partners with Functional Area leads to ensure the accuracy of cost forecasting within the LexisNexis Pacific Business to allow the business to make better data-driven decisions. The position reports to the Finance Manager (Cost Vertical) and provides support to the Pacific Senior Leadership team (including the Pacific in market teams, APAC Strategy and Finance, Global FP&A).

This is a fixed term full-time role (15 months) to be based in Sydney with the possibility of combined home/office-based arrangements to have flexible work-life balance.

Key responsibilities include:

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support & coordination of budget and RF processes for Pacific; gathering, compiling, summarizing and presenting the data and information
• Responsible for input of forecast and budget data in forecasting system (Hyperion)
• Advise on key business planning assumptions, trends, opportunities and trade-offs, for strategic drivers, customers and products

Reporting

• Responsible for timely month end reporting including variance analysis and completion of commentary for corporate reporting pack.
• Key liaison between the local business and the offshore GFSS accounting team
• Respond to various ad-hoc local and global reporting requirements

Decision Support & Analysis of financial performance

• Partner with Functional Leads (non-finance), Finance Manager and global stakeholders to analyze financial performance, explain variances and provide insightful commentary
• Develop tools & financial models to track financial performance and key drivers; develop supporting predictive analytics to increase productivity and profitability
• Monitor variances, identify trends, risks & opportunities and recommend strategies to improve financial results

Leading and Supporting local projects

• Assume an active role in initiating and driving process improvements to enhance reporting/planning efficiency and performance
• Ad hoc queries and involvement in change projects as need arise

Compliance

• Coordinate with Global FP&A team and offshore accounting team to ensure that financial information complies with local statutory requirements in addition LN & RELX global finance policies.
• Support Audit exercises.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Minimum 2 years+ working experience as a Finance Business Analyst and qualified or studying towards a CPA
• Proven business partnering skills with sound knowledge and understanding of accounting and principals
• Strong MS Excel skills and the ability to work with large data sets
• Outstanding stakeholder management skills with clear and succinct communication skills and the ability to build rapport and influence.
• Strong analytical thinking skills and the capacity to be focused on end results and an eye for continuous improvement.
