Engineering Manager

We are looking for an energetic, savvy and creative Engineering Manager who is ready to empower our team to scale & support our ever-expanding range of IoT products.

With over 90 years of experience in the cast metals industry, we now serve our Global customer base with a product line of contemporary site furnishing, castings product and offers a range of inventive Tech solutions. Reliance’s Tech Venture focuses on solving technical roadblocks with our bundled digital Solutions offering superior performance to our clients.

Reporting to the Director of Digital Development the Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing engineering milestones and overseeing all engineering tasks to achieve milestones for our ever-expanding suite of products.

This is an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to be involved in all stages of the product lifecycle from concept through production to After Sales Support and End of Life. The ideal candidate will assume a proactive role in all stages of the development process helping outline requirements to deploy updates to support the launch of our next generation product offerings.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities include:

• Designs, implements and refines product development, testing and manufacturing processes.
• Overseeing and being responsible for all engineering tasks and documentation to achieve milestones.
• Collaborating with cross-functional stake holders such as R&D, Marketing, QA, Service, Manufacturing, PMO to ensure alignment on project scope, design control documentation, quality and schedule
• Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
• Oversees project logistics and resource allocation
• Helps to create and oversee product BOM’s, budgets and engages in cost management strategies with other stakeholders.
• Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and existing and potential customers.
• Professional demeanor when customer facing and dealing with After Sales Support.
• Assures that processes and documentation meet quality and applicable regulatory guidelines, including CSA, UL and even CE requirements.
• Define and support key performance indicators (KPI’s, OKR’s, CFR’s, Etc.)
• Provide guidance, support and mentoring to Intermediate/Junior engineering team members and encourage professional technical development.
• Collaborates with other team leaders and departments.
• Be involved in Internal Auditing processes to ensure compliance with and assist in improving and demonstrating internal quality and basic systems processes.

Qualifications
Education

• Engineering Degree in related discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic
• PMP certification, Engineering Management degree, or MBA are a plus.

Experience

• A strong cross-functional technical background in Hardware, SW and FW engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, including DFM (Design for Manufacturability, process excellence methodologies, Six Sigma, Lean, supplier development and process validation.
• Experience in design control and various country regulations, including FDA and EU.
• 10+ years of progressive experience leading device tech development, design for manufacturer and scale up from pilot to full manufacturing production.
• Minimum 5 years leadership experience involving direct management responsibilities for direct reports required.
• Experience managing staff whose chosen career discipline is one that isn’t your core competency.
• Experience working inside regulated industry with ISO 9000/9001/14001 etc. quality management systems required.

• Efficient communicator, both written and verbal.
• Organized and self-motivated in a fast-paced environment. Write clear, data driven technical summaries, and test reports.
• Comfortable in a start-up environment with slightly less risk to the overall ventures.
• Your curiosity is boundless. You can show this by being a SME on a range of topics and technologies.
