Keys Counseling specializes in child and family services treating children and adults with involvement in the Department of Child Services or juvenile delinquency legal systems. Keys Counseling advocates for community safety, family preservation, and emotional healing by addressing a wide range of mental health and relationship issues with an array of evidence-based strategies.
Educational Advocates are equally teachers and caseworkers. Collaborating with students and families in the school, home, and community settings. They connect the disparate elements of a child’s educational experience, while simultaneously working to develop the skills required for successful participation in all parts of life. Educators’ interventions are of high quality, family-centered, and culturally competent. All interventions are focused on keeping children in school, improving academic performance and educating parents about how to be involved in the process.
Responsibilities:
Establishing open, engaged, and directed dialogue between clients, families, and school systems.
Attending case conferences and administrative meetings to advocate for student rights and ensure appropriate educational placement.
Providing academic assistance in both individual and group settings, as well as within the school for those students with extreme academic and/or behavioral needs.
Building students’ self-esteem by instilling an active sense of responsibility, initiative, and self-advocacy in the classroom.
Serving as part of a treatment team to develop and maintain goals in all life arenas.
Administering educational assessments and programming. Attending weekly staff meetings and all company and state trainings made available.
Maintaining working relationships with referral sources by promptly responding to all communication requests.
Maintaining professional boundaries with clients, families, and referral sources.

Qualifications & Experience include but are not limited to the following:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, sociology, or a directly-related human service field from an accredited college.(Other Bachelor’s degrees will be accepted with a minimum of two years of experience working directly with families in the child welfare system.)
Teaching License or Certificate is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Special Education and the implementation of IEPs.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to use private car to transport self and others, in compliance with state policy concerning minimum car insurance coverage.
