1st/2nd Line Support / IT Support Engineer

Location/Working Arrangement: Predominantly home based with occasional travel to sites in Surrey, Berkshire (circa 4 times a month) and on rare occasions to Dorset.

A Car and Driving Licence will be required for this role – any mileage done can be claimed via expenses.

Exciting opportunity to join well established and growing educational provider based across the UK. The chosen 1st/2nd Line Support Engineer will provide remote support to users across a number of sites, and then on occasion will be required to travel to these sites. 

As part of the IT Service Delivery team, you will play a vital role in supporting the organisations computer network infrastructure, application systems and ICT equipment. 

Whilst supporting the opening of new services, the core focus of the 1st/2nd line support engineer is to provide efficient, effective and customer- friendly ICT support services to all users across the group.

Key Skills/Experience 

• Ability to travel to sites in Berkshire, Surrey, and occasionally Dorset as required.
• The ability to resolve a range of IT issues across a range of technology (detailed below)
• A good understanding of Microsoft operating systems and other software applications such as Microsoft Office, Office365, SharePoint, Radius, VLANs, deployment technologies such as MDT and Intune
• Good knowledge of back-end systems such as network file servers, backup technologies
• Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, domains, sub-domains
• Basic knowledge of email archiving and retrieval processes, including email security setup (experience with Barracuda would be useful, though not essential)
• Knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure i.e. network switches, patch leads (network cabs)
• Ability to install IT equipment and swap out components and able to diagnose.
• Excellent communication skills – all mediums/all levels
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise.
• Experience with MDM solutions and managing mobile devices (iPads / Apple TV / Android)
