Recra are working in partnership with a forward thinking and innivotive project management and equipment supply company to the food and drink industry who currently require a Logistics and Spares Manager to join the team.

The role of Logistics & Spares Manager leads the spares & shipping department and the appointed person will report to the General Manager.

Primary Duties

  • Shipping
  • Raising paperwork for the shipment of goods to various customers worldwide, including Packing lists, Commercial invoices, Certificates of Origin and movement certificates, together with any other paperwork relating to the exportation of goods and materials.
  • Obtaining quotes from shipping companies, hauliers and packing companies to ensure competitive prices for shipping services are achieved.
  • Planning of load schedules, working to project deadlines and supplier ex-works dates.
  • Estimating quantity and type of trucks/shipping containers required and identifying opportunities to consolidate loads.
  • Managing loading of equipment onto containers and lorries at various locations in the UK or Europe. Some overseas travel may be required.
  • Liaising with customers, project engineers and shipping companies regarding shipment status and resolving any issues.
  • Managing supply of transport, packing and related services against budgeted costs.

Sales of Spare Parts
  • Act as account manager for customers, resolving complaints, confirming special terms or pricingand identifying opportunities for future growth.
  • Maintaining sufficient levels of relevant stock items in our small onsite stores area. Analysing which stocks to add or remove as necessary.
  • Logging and reporting monthly figures for sales and quotes to GM.
  • Progressing of quotations and customer orders received, inputting data onto spreadsheets and the company’s accounting system.
  • Obtaining prices from suppliers, checking order status and progressing orders through to production of shipping documents ready for goods to be dispatched.
  • Day to day supervision small stores team and ensuring SOPs are followed.

General Stores Duties
  • Manage the stores area generally; dispatching/receiving goods, the issue of stock to otherdepartments and customers, stock replenishment and annual stocktaking.
  • These duties will include the use of mechanical handling aids and lifting equipment.

Other Duties
    • Any other duties as may be required commensurate with this position.

The Person
  • Experience – Shipping Management (2 years), Stores/Warehouse Management (2 years)
  • Education – A-Level or equivalent
We are looking for a pro-active individual with a flexible approach to working and excellent communication skills. Previous management experience in a shipping and warehousing background is essential. The workload split between spares and shipping duties will vary greatly so it is vital you can effectively manage your time and staffing to ensure both areas of responsibility are covered. Experience of managing costs against budgets and a general awareness of finance would be advantageous. At times you will need to work away from the office and will need to plan your schedule in advance and ensure that you are still managing the workload of office-based teammembers.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary with options to join the company private health scheme. A performance-based bonus scheme is also operated. A company car may be offered as the role progresses
