ABOUT THE ROLE:

ing to an entrepreneurial and highly influential Commercial Manager, this Finance Business Partner is a highly visible and crucial role. The purpose of the role is to assist the Commercial Manager and Finance Director by building a best-of-breed commercial finance and FP&A function thus enabling commercially responsible decision making. In this highly autonomous and empowering role you will have exposure across the entire business including Sales, Marketing and Operations. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its aggressive hyper-growth ‘expansion phase’ through the building of strong foundations supported by a solid FP&A process and commercial framework. You will be an invaluable asset in all key commercial decision making.

As the Finance Business Partner, you will support the Commercial Managers remit in ultimate accountability for end to end commercial management across the company. Critical to the role will be developing a ‘Vision’ for superior service in finance. This will involve driving automation and creating efficiencies in finance processes.

This role not only requires an excellent technical and analytical mind but also someone that can think outside of the box and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budgeting and forecasting

• Demonstrate strong business partnering skills to effectively work with a cross functional team to develop robust forecasts of both sales and expenses.
• Identify and manage risks within the P&L resulting from changing forecasts / mix to ensure profit targets are managed.
• Provide support to the strategic planning process.

• Provide insight and commentary around Business Units’ results for month and quarter end closes.
• Ensure rebates accrued in general ledger are a true reflection of exposure.
• Ensure accuracy of product P&Ls and prepare monthly review presentations for the Business Units.

Business leadership

• Analyse monthly results to ensure Business Units are aware of issues and areas of opportunity. Provide insights into risks and opportunities in full year forecasts.
• Partner with business unit to help them understand total product spending to ensure that the right investments are being made across the business.
• Undertake financial analysis of new business opportunities, challenging assumptions made by sales & marketing teams, then present incremental P&Ls, ensuring that the most value adding opportunities are pursued.
• Ad-hoc analysis and project work.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate is confident engaging in discussions with all levels of an organisation from leadership through to field staff. You have a demonstrated track record in driving performance and accountability across a variety of businesses. You possess an advanced level of MS Excel. Your ability to negotiate and discuss ing/commercial matters with stakeholders whilst having the technical ability to translate, design and provide solutions that fosters decision support is essential for success in this role.

Overall, you will have a track record of adding value through an absolute understanding of key business drivers; the capacity to generate insights; and the ability to communicate effectively to drive change.

• Commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business;
• Affinity with business systems and financial processes – experience with a large ERP such as SAP would be advantageous as well as experience with BI tools such TM1/Anaplan;
• Experience to a product/FMCG/Manufacturing style business;
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data and identify risks and opportunities;
• Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders;
• Pro-active and customer focused mind set;
• Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
