Due to this strategy a brand-new role has been created for a BI Analyst.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This newly created BI Analyst is a highly visible and crucial role and will directly to the Commercial Manager and partner very closely with the CFO, COO, General Managers and broader business leaders. You will also have the support and mentoring from an outsourced advisor who is an experienced Head of BI and Analytics and recognised as one of the best in the industry.

The purpose of the role is to unlock and drive insights fostering commercially responsible decision making. In this highly autonomous and empowering role you will act as the “in-house” advisor on BI matters. The ability to communicate effectively with non-data minded people is going to be crucial for the success of this role. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its next period of growth and positioning the business as a leader in their industry whilst implementing best practice dashboards and insights.

The first 6-12 months will be an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the business and learn the mechanics of the organisation as well as build effective working relationships. Beyond the first 6-12 months, you will have the opportunity to build out the team and grow the BI function further. The pathway and strategic vision are there for you to grow and drive the function.

This role not only requires an excellent technical and analytical mind but also someone that can think outside of the box and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Business partner the leadership team to identify opportunities to increase profitability, competitor advantage, shareholder value and business growth;
• Build meaningful relationships to deliver beneficial commercial outcomes to the business, teams and customers;
• Own the BI function including insightful and timely dashboard ing and modelling;
• Revenue performance, sales pipeline and gap ing;
• Act as a critical data insights lead to the leadership team who will seek your support and guidance on preparing internal s for key business decision making;
• Develop a qualitative and quantitative analysis of operational aspects of the company to evaluate progress towards goals;
• Drive business initiatives across promotions, supplier income and rebates, brand penetration, margin improvement and price & mix analysis;
• Explore large datasets, discover trends and patterns and extract insights;
• Design/Generate data visualisations, s and dashboards;
• Act as the key advisor for the business to develop analytical and ing tools as well as promote and drive adoption of BI solutions;
• Demonstrate and promote a data-driven decision making culture at all levels of the organisation;
• Coach and mentor other members of the team on BI;
• Perform simulation and scenario modelling analysis;
• Clean, validate and combine large data sets from multiple sources and databases in preparation for analysis;
• Quantitative analysis of customer data and scan data to understand purchasing behaviour and refine business strategy;
• Implement processes for the input, cleansing and maintenance of customer records to ensure quality of customer records;
• Develop simple and meaningful sales s and dashboards using Excel and PowerBI, to give business leaders visibility of promotional sales performance and product sales performance at category and supplier levels;
• Provide tailored customer and category insights to the sales, marketing and merchandise teams via quantitative analysis of customer data, product data and scan data to identify targeted marketing campaign, sales and business growth opportunities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate is an experienced BI/Data Analyst and is confident engaging in discussions with all levels of an organisation from leadership level through to field staff. You have a demonstrated track record in driving performance and accountability across a variety of businesses. You possess an “advanced/approaching advanced” level of MS Excel (if you have Advanced MS office Suite that would be advantageous). For instance, you are comfortable with VBA language ability, ability to connect to external data, Pivot Table Manipulation and advanced formulas. Exposure to Power BI is also preferred however your ability to negotiate and discuss ing/commercial matters with stakeholders whilst having the technical ability to translate, design and provide solutions that fosters decision support is essential for success in this role.

Furthermore, you will have an intermediate/approaching intermediate level of SQL experience and feel comfortable to access and manipulate data for Power BI insertion.

Overall, you will have a track record of adding value through an absolute understanding of key business drivers; the capacity to generate insights; and the ability to communicate effectively to drive change.
