Ready, Set, Kids! Hiring for Service Learning Lead Teacher Full Time

Mission Statement

Ready, Set, Kids is a comprehensive enrichment and learning center working to nurture the minds and bodies of our community’s children and families through enrichment and care programs for children ages 0-10. We offer new baby & toddler, pre-school, and after school programs in a fun, play-based education environment. Class subjects include music, art, dance, Spanish, Chinese, science and more for ages 0-10.

We currently have an opening for a leader of service learning projects to join our warm and fun small group of staff members to bring projects, events, and activities to our full range of classes. This individual must love both being in a classroom with kids but also be excited about developing new programs and activities for the community. Hours can be part-time, or full time, but must include at least 3 days per week for both in-class and administrative hours, and one evening or weekend per month to facilitate community-wide events.

Job duties:

-Creating and implementing community-building activities in the space with current and future community members
-Teaching and leading a group of up to 13 school-aged students in afterschool classrooms in service-oriented projects and other games and activities
-Assisting in classrooms as needed

Candidates must have legal working status and availability on a least a few full days per week, and an interest in working in a small program environment. Bilingual Spanish/English or Mandarin/English a big plus!

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Passion for working with children

Preferred experience with leading children/youth activities

Knowledge of youth/children programs

Organization skills for planning activities

Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment and organize time and workload effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.

Demonstrated problem solving ability.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including frequent standing, walking bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Ability to use various sports equipment used in program.

First Aid and CPR certification completed within 1 month of employment

Background CORI Check required

Required EEC qualifications for this position, and trainings within 1 month of hire

Contract Commitment

All contracts are “at will” and may be terminated by either the employer or employee at any time.

Ten month program based on the Arlington Public School Calendar, with opportunities to continue throughout the summer.
