Reading & Math, Inc Hiring for Elementary Math Tutor – Marcy Arts Magnet at Minneapolis, MN Full Time

As an Elementary Math Tutor, you’ll help students in grades K-3 to improve their skills and confidence. With great training and onsite coaching, we’ll prepare you to work one-on-one or with pairs of students to build fundamental math skills.

Students make the most progress when you are there, so our tutors serve during school hours and are needed for the whole school year. We are currently recruiting for the 2021-22 school year. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Math Corps. Although the earnings are modest, the rewards are great! You’ll join an amazing group of 500 tutors, determined to help students be more.

What to Expect:
Be a change maker by providing structured math tutoring 1:1 or in small groups of students during school hours.

Perks Package:
Give your time as a tutor and you’ll receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 35, 25, or 18 hours per week.

Perks at 35 hours a week:
A stipend of $900 paid every 2 weeks

$15,300 total for 900 hours of service startingin October 2021

$9,900 total for 675 hours starting in January 2022

Up to $3,172 for tuition or student loans*

Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment

Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered

Child care assistance — Based on family size and income

Perks at 25 hours a week:
A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks

$11,050 for 675 hours of service starting in October 2021

$7,150 for 450 hours of service starting in January 2022

Up to $2,417 for tuition or student loans*

Perks at 18 hours a week:
A stipend of $450 paid every 2 weeks

$7,650 for 450 hours of service starting in October 2021

$4,950 for 300 hours of service starting in January 2022

• The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or step-child.

Recruitment Incentive

Apply by October 22, 2021, to receive a $250 Visa Gift Card. To be eligible, individuals must successfully enroll as an AmeriCorps member.

What it Takes:
You do not need to be a math expert to become a tutor! Great tutors come from all walks of life. Whether you are 18 or 85, the most important qualification is a desire to help children succeed. That said, you also need to meet the following minimum qualifications by the time you begin your service.

Are dependable and have a history of good attendance

Able to understand and follow instructions

Can set a pace and maintain a schedule with students

Have basic computer skills (like email and navigating online systems)

Can speak, read, and write English fluently

Be 18 years of age or older two weeks before the program start date

Have a high school diploma or its equivalent

18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent

A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States*

Agree to and successfully complete a background check

• Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.

Minnesota Math Corps is an AmeriCorps program that helps thousands of children in grades 4-8 improve their math skills each year.
