Your team

Your team is a multi-disciplined mix of eight software experts across Product Strategy, Agile Delivery Management, UX Research and Design, Angular Development, Software Engineering and Infrastructure who are all responsible for driving the product roadmap and customer experiences for RDC’s suite of aviation software platforms.

The product development team runs an exciting and fast-paced development programme with a rolling schedule of building new products, features and updates that deliver quality user experience and high adoption. Investing in new products and functionality is core to our development strategy.

As one of our Software Developers, you’ll be getting stuck right into all areas of our application suite, ensuring that our customers are always accessing performant, engaging and well-written software.

Roles &* Responsibilities: *

You are a C# .Net developer with 3+ years of commercial experience with the skills for creating high performance solutions, a strong belief in your potential and the ability to demonstrate a willingness to learn.

You are pragmatic in your approach, balancing technical and stakeholder needs to deliver quality, testable, adaptable solutions as part of a continuously improving product team and client.

You must have a strong desire to improve yourself and learn from others, whilst also getting involved in the RDC culture of learning and sharing.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

• 3* years *or more minimum commercial experience as a Software Developer, Application Developer or similar role.
• You have used a range of technology and are very capable with .Net, C# and SQL, JavaScript (Vanilla), Git & Deployment automation, however, more importantly can demonstrate your development practices/craftsmanship to new technology, perhaps via examples on your personal GitHub repo or portfolio.
• You have a good understanding of build tools.
• You are aware of the impact of performance and understand techniques for improving and optimising query times.
• You will have as much passion in HOW you work and deliver solutions to problems as you do in the technology you use, so terms like: ‘Craftsmanship’, ‘Clean Code’, ‘Self Organising’, ‘Fast Feedback’, ‘Automate Everything’ are something you believe in very strongly.
• You are looking for the right environment, working alongside a Senior Developer, to progress your career further.

Desirable
Skills and experience in:

• Complex SQL queries
• RESTful API interaction
• NoSQL
• Caching
• Azure DevOps
• A basic understanding of HTML and CSS
• Knowledge of technologies like Webpack and Node

• Knowledge and understanding of the benefits of different service architectures
• Azure platform experience – the various Azure-based technologies and when to apply them
• An appreciation of UX and Design, with a desire to work collaboratively with our Senior UI Designer and the rest of the team.
• Interest in optimising performance and how it applies to building websites.
• You have had exposure to Lean or Agile working practices but want to cement your knowledge and help contribute to continuous improvement and eliminating waste as part of a team culture.
• An active member of the tech community, perhaps you’d enjoy attending various events that are held across the country (or even the world!)
