We are looking to strengthen our team with the appointment of a Director of Learning and Teaching. The role will support the Dean in implementing the University’s Education Strategy to deliver a pioneering, transformative educational offer in line with our expectations to be the leading university for the creative economy. The Director will deliver on a number of crucial educational functions, including innovative programme design, academic staff development, student partnership, education enhancement, technology enhanced learning, academic skills development, personal mentoring, and quality and standards. Each of these will drive our improvement across key performance indicators including student satisfaction, retention, progression and graduate outcomes.
The Candidate
You will have a higher degree in a creative and/or education discipline or significant experience and an HE teaching qualification
You will also have academic credibility and expertise in leading on teaching and learning in higher education and a deep understanding of the Teaching Excellence Framework, widening participation, inclusive and authentic practices, and an ability to gain positive outcomes for student achievement, retention, progression, and employability for students from under-represented and disadvantaged groups in higher education
With a track record in leading and managing positive organisational change, for example as Head of Department, Associate Dean/Director or equivalent you will be able to demonstrate leadership and management of successful initiatives that enhanced the quality of teaching, improvements to the overall student experience, student employability and academic achievement in higher education.
