A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TEST PREP TUTOR

As a Test Prep Tutor, you contribute to our reputation of offering quality educational services. The bulk of our business comes from test preparation for standardized tests, so your role is essential to our business. You are dedicated to helping each of your students achieve their academic goals, and you start by creating customized lesson plans based on their needs. You have a knack for spotting and diagnosing a students’ weak points, and you use that to help them gain awareness about and address bad habits and topics that consistently challenge them.

During your tutoring sessions, you leverage your ability to improvise and look at a problem from more than one perspective. This helps you find the right teaching strategy for each student. At the end of the session, you record notes detailing the previous sessions’ homework, topics covered, any comments in terms of progress or stagnation, and the homework given. You also take note of any issues as needed, such as students being distracted or a lack of effort. Helping your students succeed gives you a great sense of fulfillment!

QUALIFICATIONS

Resident of California

Bachelor’s degree

Mastery of SAT, ACT, ISEE, and SSAT standardized tests

8+ hours of availability on weekends

Willingness to take a shortened version of a standardized test AND present short lessons to demonstrate skill during the interview process

Availability to work 6 hours on weekdays is preferred. 5 years or 5,000 hours of teaching experience as well as experience teaching in a variety of formats would be a plus. PART-TIME WORK SCHEDULE

This remote online tutoring position typically works weekdays during the afternoon or evening. On weekends, normal work hours occur between 8 am – 4 pm on Saturdays and 8 am – 6 pm on Sundays.
