Structural Inspector

Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for a Structural Inspector to come and work for TATA Steel in Port Talbot. The role is an initial 12 month contract paying £21 per hour, working Monday – Friday on a regular day shift.

This role exists to lead, co-ordinate, control, manage and ensure a compliant statutory and non-statutory structuralInspection service to all works areas within the business at the Port Talbot plant. The role is dynamic since the plant inspectorsare tasked with assessing a number of multiple assets of a different nature.

About the Candidate

• Candidates must be experienced plant inspectors competent in the integrity assessment of steel buildings, rail / crane gantries, blast furnace structures, conveyor systems, support structures, structures used to house and support heavy-lifting equipment and protective coating systems.
• To demonstrate full knowledge and understanding of the companies Health and Safety systems and relevant statutory duties and legislation.
• Coordinate daily activities/future activities (Structural Inspections) by maintaining close liaison with and advising Senior Managers, Production Managers, Departmental, Planning Engineers and Co-ordinators across plant and outside local authorities.
• The role will mean working directly alongside other Inspectors/Engineers such as Structural & Civil Engineering based backgrounds. There needs to be close liaison and strong team ethic at all times.
• The ability to accurately report the inspection findings regarding the condition of the plant is an important part of the job requirement in addition to being able to work closely with the relevant business unit managers to manage any underlying risk to ALARP.
• Provide technical expertise/guidance to all site areas for all StructuralInspection activities.
