Job Title: Child Protection Social Worker

Barrow in Furness Location

£50 per hour

Job Overview: We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Child Protection Social Workers to join our dynamic team in Cumbria. Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Intervention: Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and develop effective intervention plans. Provide ongoing support and guidance to families involved in child protection cases.

2. Case Management: Manage a caseload of child protection cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions. Collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and stakeholders to create comprehensive support networks for families.

3. Court Proceedings: Prepare and present evidence in court hearings related to child protection cases. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and s.

4. Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly to crisis situations, providing immediate support to children and families in need. Collaborate with emergency services and other relevant agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

5. Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and best interests of children, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including health professionals, educators, and law enforcement, to create holistic and coordinated approaches to child protection.

Duties:

1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families.
2. Develop and implement intervention plans based on assessed needs.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with policies and procedures.
4. Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to provide integrated support.
5. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
6. Provide consultation and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
2. Registration with the relevant social work regulatory body.
3. Proven experience in child protection social work.
4. Strong knowledge of child development, child abuse/neglect indicators, and relevant legislation.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
8. Willingness to undergo background checks and participate in continuous professional development.
