Ramapo For Children Hiring for Residential Program Facilitator at Rhinebeck, New York Full Time

Through our RamaYear program, recent college graduates devote a year or two of their early careers to an immersive, residential, year-round service experience on our Rhinebeck, NY campus. Ramayears work in one of two programs: our adventure-based Retreats program, or in our transitional program for young adults with disabilities, the Staff Assistant Experience. The RamaYear position is a year-round, salaried position with full benefits, including room and board.  Staff members live and work on our 250-acre Rhinebeck, NY campus alongside a team of other driven and passionate young adults from across the country. 

• Retreats Ramayear spend their days working with groups of youth and educators on social-emotional development and outdoor adventure-based activities that build teamwork, communication, and relationship-building skills. These individuals lead icebreakers, facilitate ropes courses, build campfires, and walk participants through leadership development exercises. Additionally, RamaYear play key roles in various Ramapo programs such as our residential camp, a traditional summer camp experience for children ages 6-25 with social, emotional or learning challenges
• RamaYear who work in our Staff Assistant Experience serves as mentors to our Staff Assistants: young adults, 18-25 years old, with social, emotional, and learning differences. Ramayears work directly with Staff Assistants: facilitating programming, supporting participants in vocational training, and providing ongoing coaching. Individuals are expected to steward participants through each day and evening by building positive relationships with participants, modeling appropriate behaviors, and communicating clear expectations

At the outset, new RamaYear staff members receive intensive training in Ramapo’s Approach and philosophy, acquiring a toolbox of skills and strategies to create environments that foster success. Through their experiences working with groups of youth and educators, mentoring Staff Assistants and being a part of Camp Ramapo, they strive to embody these practices and role model them effectively each day.

The annual stipend for the position is $25,000 and entails a 15-17 month commitment, with the opportunity to extend. Room and board are included, with 3 meals provided daily.  Staff typically share a 2-bedroom apartment with another staff member.
